Newport City Council will consider the proposed overall revenue budget and council tax for 2017/18 when it meets on Thursday 2 March.

Following a full public consultation, Cabinet put forward proposals that showed added commitment to education and care in the city, with and additional £1.1million for schools and protection for the current domiciliary care service.

Cabinet also reduced the potential four per cent council tax increase to 3.5 per cent.

Councillors from all parties will have the opportunity to discuss the proposed council tax increase and resulting overall budget put forward by Cabinet at their meeting on Monday 20 February.
